Santa Puzzle and a Challenge
Not much has changed since my last blog/email.
I mean, whhhaaattt is going on!? It feels like we are living in a movie.
I'm not going to get into the specifics because there is no shortage of coverage on that topic.
But I will talk about my approach.
I decided to take the cautious route, and it was an easy decision. I run an online business, and I love being home (no brainer.)
I prepared (calmly) for some extra time at home (I was not one of the hoarders, so don't come for me, lol) and decided I would do my part to help as often as possible.
I reached out to a few people near and dear and offered to run errands, go to the store, and do whatever so they could stay home.
I included a screenshot of one of my text messages above because it's too funny not to share. I sent a text to one of my favorite men on the planet offering to help and basically received a "Who dis?" response. Haha. He must have a new phone or something like that. So funny and fitting, if you know Marv. :)
I decided to visit my neighbor Barb (those of you not familiar with Barb can read about her here). She was super excited to see me and said, "Come in, it's my birthday today. I turned 86 today!" So cute that she's still so enthusiastic about her birthday.
I told her I just wanted to check on her and let her know I'm here to help if she needs anything. She was not concerned. She said she feels like she's on borrowed time anyway. And she tries to makes the most of each day (with or without a virus floating around.)
She quickly switched the topic to talking trash about the other neighbors, told me about lightning hitting her tree and electrocuting a squirrel, and how she has to lean far to the right to get her remote control to work from her couch. Lol, just normal life stuff. I noticed a cute Santa jigsaw puzzle on her wall (framed) and told her I thought it was cute. She said she paid $1 for the puzzle and $75 to frame it, lol.
She filled me in on how a few different businesses were trying to take advantage of her because of her age. But Barb is tarp as a shack and not having any of it. I freaking love her and should visit more often. (Note to self)
I called one of my siblings (no names), and he hadn't even heard about the Coronavirus. He legit had no clue what I was talking about; I have no idea how that is even humanly possible. 🤨
I will help when/where I can, and steer my mind to the good things that are happening in the world.
They are there, just not so easy to find. I'm not going to put my head in the sand. I'm also not going to double-down on a bad situation by bingeing the news and catastrophizing everything.
I will hope for health for all and figure out the rest when the dust settles.
In the meantime, I'm going to maintain my routines and as much normalcy as possible, avoid looking at my e-trade account, and continue to kick my day off with 80's music, or 90's gangster rap.
I have been thinking about launching a free training program (I will do my best to make it super fun) and wanted to find out which would be most helpful to you. I'd set up a Facebook group, send worksheets/homework, and host online group coaching sessions.
Drop me an email at macheleg@lifeleapcoaching.com and let me know which free training would be more useful for you based on your circumstances, or if there's another topic that you would like me to tackle.
1) Learn how to coach yourself through anything.
2) Learn a new way to break down a goal (I would highly recommend setting a 30-day goal.)
3) 7-day overwhelmed to organized challenge (task/time management)
Again, please let me know which of the above would be most helpful, and if there’s anything I can do to help.
