Confusion and uncertainty shut you down? Read this 👇

The school where I got certified taught us that confusion is an indulgent emotion.

An indulgent emotion is one that doesn’t have a payoff.

It just keeps you stuck.

Confusion breeds confusion and you just spin cycle your ass to China.

Their advice?

Don’t do it. Refuse to indulge in confusion.

You are choosing to be confused, just stop.

Um, okay.

But I am confused.

But I really don’t know.

Annoying AF.

I tried to work with what I was taught but I always felt a full body no when I tried to use it with myself or my clients.

I have found much better ways to manage confusion over the years so I wanted to share them with you!

You are for sure going to feel confused any time you go for something new.

As you’ll see in my scientific chart below😂 , confusion is pretty much the first checkpoint on the trail to a new you, or a new result.

You should feel confused because you haven’t done this before.

How do you normally react/respond when you feel confused?

Most people use it as a sign to wait because the timing isn’t right.

Or they think things like:

“ugh, I’m never going to be able to do this!”

“why can’t I figure this shit out?!”

“this is too hard”

“I don’t want to screw this up!”

“I need to make sure I make the right decision!”

“Ah! I don’t know what to do!!!”

And they just stay stuck there.

Often for a long time.

Or they look at their security guard and scream “You're right! Back to the cave I go!”

Here’s what you can do instead:

Step 1: Normalize it. Confusion isn’t a problem to solve, it’s a sign that you’ve left the cave and you’re doing something new. Congrats!

Step 2: There are going to be a lot of things you don’t know, but there are also things that you do know. Sure, you might not know everything but you definitely know how to get started. Redirect your brain to those. A few examples below:

  • I have no idea how to build a website but I know how to type “tips for building your own website” into google.

  • I have no idea what brand colors I want to use but I do know what colors I for sure don’t want.

  • I have no idea how to save my marriage but I know that I could look into therapy, hiring a coach, or finding a book that addresses my specific problem.

  • I want to start budgeting but I have no idea which method is the best BUT I know how to do a Google search

Some of my own:

I have no idea how I want to structure my business in 2023 but I for sure know that I want to do more groups.

I don’t know if I should invest in new branding around New Bitch Energy now that I’ve trademarked it, but I do know that the results matter more than the branding.

I don’t know if I should launch a new freebie or just promote the ones I already have but I do know that all roads lead to Rome. I can just flip a quarter and move forward.

Normalize confusion.

Anticipate it (instead of dreading it).

How could you show up differently when you feel confused?

Just do that.

Indecision kills more dreams than wrong decisions.

And even the “wrong” decision can create the right result.
