Last year I decided to have my first annual company retreat, and it was awesome so I wanted to share the idea!
I rented a nice Honeymoon cabin for myself (because why not) in a great area in Oklahoma called Broken Bow. < It's great because it doesn't feel like Oklahoma π
I came up with an agenda, printed it out on letterhead with my logo because I wanted it to feel super official.
I bought a high-quality journal and organized everything the way I would if I was hosting an actual business retreat.
I also splurged on my favorite wine, Lush bath bombs, amazing lotion, etc.
And one of my awesome clients (you know who you are) surprised me with an amazing business anniversary gift bag that was so thoughtful and unexpected that it legit almost made me cry!
Honestly, I don't remember what was on the agenda and any real breakthroughs I had while there.
But I vividly remember how great I felt sitting in the hot tub by myself under a full moon, drinking my favorite wine, and reflecting on the past year.
I felt so fucking proud of myself (more than I ever have), and it was so overwhelming that I cried. << Sound the vulnerability alarm π
Running your own business is not easy.
It brings up all your shit.
I loved that I splurged on a nice Honeymoon cabin because I have been an avid budgeter since resigning from my corporate job, so I REALLY appreciated it!
And my absolute favorite part is that I decided to write a letter to future me. I don't remember a single thing that I wrote in that letter.
I think it was a mix of guessing what would be different about my business in a year, commitments to myself, etc.
My 2nd annual retreat is at the end of October, and I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am to read that letter. And I will write another letter again this year because it will be so fun to read it again next year.
All kidding aside, the official business agenda part is super important and valuable! I'm happy to send a copy of mine to you if you'd like; it might help you spark some ideas of your own! CLICK HERE to drop me an email.
And if you are a solopreneur of a business that is ANY SIZE, I highly encourage you to do this!
If you're not in a position to stay overnight somewhere, go to a park and sit at a picnic table, coffee shop, hike to a remote location, etc., go somewhere new.
And please let me know if you decide to do this; I'd love to hear about your experience!
