How To Allow Yourself To Want
It's often scary to admit what you want.
Your brain hates change (all brains do, they are hard-wired to prevent it), so we talk ourselves out of it.
You will tell yourself 100 different reasons why you don't "really" want change.
You want to gain new customers for your business.
Your brain: well, I should have a balanced life. I need to spend more time with my family. It's going to take so much time and energy. It's hard to juggle everything I have going on already; I don't really want it right now.
You want to improve your self-care and start loving yourself more.
Your brain: Well, if I start loving myself, I will have to ship my husband off to another country because I won't put up with his BS. Oh, I know I need to get healthy, but that means losing weight and working out is too damn hard. I for sure want this, but just not right now. The timing isn't right.
You want to find a new job that you love and pursue your passion.
Your brain: I don't even know where to start. What if nobody hires me? What if I waste all of this time trying to find something I love and I don't find anything. Or, even worse, what if I try and I completely fail?! I might want this someday, but my job is pretty good. I'll ride it out until the timing is right.
You must see through the BS your brain offers you as a way to avoid change.
Your brain is super creative.
With it’s “Maybe later, not now, you don’t really want it” thoughts.
But what if you do, really want it, not later, but now?
Feeling scared while you're going after what you want feels 10x better than it feels to spend your life numbing out and pretending.
Why wouldn't you fully want it?
I tell my clients all the time; you know you're making a "good" decision if you like your reasons for making it.
What are your reasons for not going after what you want? Seriously, pause and think about it.
What would be the reasons for allowing yourself to want-what-you-want and commit to getting it?
Which set of reasons do you like best?
If you’ve decided that you’re ready to go for it, I can help.
